Remember that post about cabbage... and remember that wonderful mandolin slicer? Perhaps I should have put a warning notice on that, because they are
dangerous. I know this from personal experience after slicing off part of the padding on my finger. It was Monday night, the first night of the diet, and I was preparing food for the next day (I can't prepare everything for the entire week because at home there's not enough room in the refrigerator). There I was, carefully slicing away at some sweet potatoes which would become delicious
roasted sweet potatoes... and slip.... oops, there went part of my finger. Just as this happened I got a reply from Tara (who is doing my diet through JillFit) that I should add in a meal around 7, because I finished my last one around 4:30. She said it should be 4oz. white lean fish. I certainly didn't have any white fish around the place, and I was bleeding
profusely but I was so determined not to screw up the first day of the diet any further, so I hopped in the car. I bled all the way to Harris Teeter, bled finding the fish, bled buying the fish (the cashier gave me weird looks), bled back home, bled making the fish, bled eating the fish, and finally like 2 hours later I finished bleeding. The moral of this story? Don't cut off part of your finger.
Yesterday I looked at the finger.... and it was looking a little dicey (no pun intended). My mom declared that I had to go see a doctor (I was resisting, it's not like they could stitch it up, there was a whole
chunk taken off). So I got off work an hour early and saw my doctor. I was right, there was nothing they could do. She gave me some good advice as to how to take care of it, and said they wanted to splint it so I wouldn't bump into things and reopen the wound. She also said I could take the splint off it didn't help. It didn't help. The splint was
huge and I kept wacking it against everything. Driving was impossible... and my patience was growing thin, so I've decided not to use the splint.... I just need to be careful not to destroy the new skin that grows.
Because this is fitNasti, there needs to be a photo:
my god that is thoroughly disgusting of a picture. DX *shudders* I hope it gets better soon.
